Ride Route

David Beverly was the founder of the Johnson Space Center (JSC) Space Riders, a motorcycle organization open to all JSC NASA community motorcycle enthusiasts. David was a friendly outgoing rider who was born with a passion for all aspects of motorcycling. He was a popular member of many motorcycle groups and organizations, and was a frequent participant at local and interstate motorcycle rallies and track days. David always made a special effort to support charity events and was a noted participant in rides benefiting children. He was also well known for his meticulous restoration of vintage motorcycles.

David formed the JSC Space Riders in 1997 with an approximate membership of 24. Under his leadership, the JSC Space Riders advocated motorcycle safety and provided a forum to encourage new riders and seasoned motorcyclists from all walks of life to fully enjoy the sport. The JSC Space Riders were also instrumental in providing motorcycle safety information at annual JSC Safety and Total Health Day displays. David promoted camaraderie and brought area enthusiasts together for rides, charity events and other social activities.

Today, JSC Space Rider membership exceeds 450 and this number is growing. Continuing David’s legacy, the JSC Space Riders hold general discussions on current motorcycle topics of interest, provide group responses to riders’ questions, and post motorcycles and riding gear for sale. Regular social events, including Dave’s Night Out (DNO) are also held on a monthly basis.

The JSC Space Riders is an open organization with no demand for membership dues or obligations other than the practice of motorcycle safety and the desire to have fun. Motorcycle enthusiasts are encouraged to participate in JSC Space Rider events.

The JSC Space Riders are proud to host the First Annual David Beverly Memorial Ride, a benefit ride in support of the Children’s Miracle Network, as part of the 2008 Inaugural Bay Area Rally at Space Center Houston. This memorial ride is open to all riders who wish to commemorate this great man. In keeping with the spirit of David Beverly please join in and enjoy the ride.
